In an effort to get more people posting on this forum I thought i'd ask members to tell us what road cars they've had in the past (and present). We hear a lot about competition cars on the forum and extremely interesting they are but i'm sure a number of you have and have had some quite interesting road cars.
I'll start off back in '66 when I helped a friend build a Mini Marcos ( Not one I owned but I put a lot of blood and sweat into help build it) Did you know that the Marcos was the only british car to finish at Le Mans that year, in 15th place.
My first car was, yes you've guessed, a Mini. After rolling it on the way to an Oulton Park meeting I went through a classic phase. A '38 Morgan 4/4 was followed by a '36 Morgan 3 wheeler with a Jap 1100 engine. One of the best cars i've had and one which i've always regretted selling.
I built a Dutton B Type next, based on Herald running gear. This was P/X against a Ginnetta G15 from John Brittan Garages. Another car I regret selling.
A couple of years driving firms cars followed ( I worked for a Ford agent so they were Mexicos and RS2000 etc)
The next was a Lotus Seven Mk4, a big wheeled bewinged Beetle, a 1275 Mini Clubman and when a mortgage came along it was the usual mundane family motors.
And finally up to date, I am running the ST170 and as many of you know have spent the last 2 years building an Autotune Gemini. Let's hope we have plenty of summer weather in which to enjoy it.
Right, who's next?
